It was the perfect rainy weekend when my book came to my doorstep. It transported me into a calm and peaceful state. After reading the poems in Wings of the Wind: A Cornucopia of Poetry I knew it would be a good fit to share aloud with my namesake who has Alzheimer's. As I read it to Aunt Fran she gave that beautiful smile I remembered as a child and I felt a connection take place. The author has a knack for composing words to evoke feelings of healing which she calls "Therapeutic Poetry". Turning every page I found my favorites and go back to every now and them to boost my mood. I also suggested this book to my friend who teaches in the public school system to share with her classroom to purposely entice teens to love the art of reading and possibly inspire the classroom to write their own poetry. I found Kym Gordon Moore's poetry very interesting. It covers a wide range of subjects from love and nostalgia to personal struggles with pain and the strength to overcome and rise above the challenges life presents. Her poems, A Way Out of Darkness and A Victim's Gift speak volumes as one reads through them. Poetry is one media that can open the eyes of the blind to see what we would perhaps rather ignore. Her poem about Uncle Mookie was very down to earth and fun to read as one can picture the events taking place in her poem.
I would highly recommend this book to you for stimulating and thought provoking reading.
I was given this book as a gift and had absolutely no idea what to expect. I had not heard of "Wings of Wind" and was not familiar with its author, Kym G. Moore. Later that evening I had planned to spend a moment reading one or two pages. Well as they say, plans are made to be broken. Two pages became four, four left me wanting more, and suddenly I was "sadly" turning the last page. I found I could not get enough of this wonderful collection of poems and even those that evoked sadness somehow made me feel good inside. "Wings of Wind A Cornucopia of Poetry" is one of the best gifts I have received, and I highly recommend everyone to treat themselves to a copy.
